GelatoLator is a one-person project. I collect only what the calculator, your account and the emails you asked for need, I don't sell or share it for advertising, and you can ask me for a copy or have it deleted at any time: hello@gelatolator.com.

What I collect

  • Your account: your email address and a password, which is stored hashed by the sign-in provider, so I never see it.
  • Your saved recipes: names, ingredients and weights. Only you can read them; the database refuses everyone else.
  • The mailing list, only if you join it: your email address, when and where you signed up, and a token that makes the unsubscribe link work.
  • The Pro waitlist, only if you join it: your email address and the features and price range you picked.
  • Usage statistics: which pages are visited, roughly from where, on what kind of device, and product events such as "recipe saved" or "auto-balance used". These never include your recipes or your email address.

The calculator works without an account. Recipes you don't save are never sent anywhere.

Who processes it

  • Supabase: the database and sign-in.
  • Vercel: hosting, plus Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which count visits and page speed without cookies.
  • Google Analytics 4: visit and event statistics. It sets cookies. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it loads only after you accept analytics cookies.
  • Microsoft Clarity: session recordings and heatmaps of how pages are used (clicks, scrolling, mouse movement) so I can find and fix confusing parts of the interface. It sets cookies. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it sets them only after you accept; until then it records each page on its own, without cookies.
  • Resend: sends the emails.
  • Cloudflare: routes mail sent to hello@gelatolator.com to my inbox.
  • Amazon: some articles link to products through the Amazon Associates program. If you click one, Amazon may set its own cookies; GelatoLator receives no personal data from it.

Each of these handles data under its own privacy policy. Your account, recipes and list entries are stored in the United States (Supabase's US East region), and the other services may also process data outside your country.

Why

  • Your account and recipes: to provide the service you signed up for.
  • The newsletter and the waitlist: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Usage statistics: my legitimate interest in keeping the site working and improving it. Analytics cookies in the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: your consent.
  • Account notices: to tell you about changes that affect your saved data.

Emails

  • Newsletter: only if you subscribed. Every one has an unsubscribe link.
  • Account notices: if you have an account, I may email you about something that changes your saved data, such as a correction to the ingredient values your recipes are calculated from. These are rare and contain no marketing.

Replies come straight to me.

Your cookie choice

If you visit from the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a bar at the bottom of the page asks before any analytics cookies are set. Decline, or ignoring the bar, means Google Analytics never loads and Clarity sets no cookies. Vercel's cookieless statistics still count the visit. Your choice is remembered in your browser for six months, and you can change it at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.

To know whether to show the bar, the site sets one small cookie with no personal data: whether your request came from one of those countries.

Your browser's storage

Besides the cookies above, the site keeps your sign-in session, your cookie choice and a few settings in your browser's local storage. Clearing your browser data removes them and signs you out.

Keeping and deleting

Your account and recipes are kept until you ask me to delete them. If you unsubscribe, I keep your address marked as unsubscribed so you aren't added back by mistake. Analytics data is kept according to each tool's retention settings.

To get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and everything in it, email hello@gelatolator.com from the address on your account.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes, and account holders hear about significant changes by email.
